Barley Wood is a beautiful eighteenth-century country house set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens. Situated on the edge of the village of Wrington in rural North Somerset, it enjoys stunning views of the Mendip Hills. The venue has an incredible team behind it, so providing wedding flowers at Barley Wood is always a pleasure.
Barley Wood offers a choice of areas for your wedding ceremony. You can either exchange vows in the Morning Room or in the beautiful gardens overlooking the Yeo Valley.
Inspiration and Ideas for Wedding Flowers at Barley Wood
There’s plenty of opportunity to get creative with your wedding flowers at Barley Wood. I’ve previously decorated the sun-dial for a couple who had their ceremony in the gardens. It made a really pretty backdrop for their formal photos. The couple also opted for two large urn arrangements on either side of the entrance to their ceremony.
You can choose to have your reception either in the Large Hall or the Morning Room. There are mantels that work well with floral garlands, small urns, bottles or vases. There’s also a grand staircase that looks pretty decorated with a sweeping floral garland.
For your wedding breakfast, tall or low arrangements work well in both spaces. The historic house is the perfect setting for pretty vintage-inspired styling. I love using unusual props such as vintage suitcases in my designs. Take a look at my Barley Wood styled shoot for lots more inspiration.
