Making it happen…
This beautiful autumn wedding at Coombe Lodge was such a dream of a brief. Coombe Lodge is a favourite venue of mine, blessed with warm tones of wood, a gorgeous sweeping staircase and tons of natural light. Cerian and Nick’s wedding had a friendly elegance to it, and the autumnal colour palette really played off the furnishings of the venue.
Using tones of gold, peach, pale coffee and burnt orange, I created highly textural arrangements to punctuate the couple’s day. Seasonal flowers were really important to us, and I incorporated roses, black baccara, scabious seed heads, hypericum berries and the most gorgeous dahlias into the urns, bouquets and runners. That stunner of a staircase was crying out for a statement piece, and the rich autumn colours worked beautifully against it. Tables and mantels were decorated with smaller posies in bud vases, alongside miniature pumpkins and gourds; and I added floral hoops behind the top table for a fun yet sophisticated impact.
